久しぶりのバド・パウエル！アップ・テンポの"I'll Remember April"で始まる。どんどんバド・パウエルの世界へ引き込まれて行く。

モダン・ピアノの元祖と呼ばれるバド・パウエル。チャーリー・パーカーやディジー・ガレスピーなどと一緒にモダン・ジャズの時代を切り開いた。1924年９月27日生まれのバド・パウエル。A面は彼が22歳の時の演奏である。

私はどちらかと言うと、アップ・テンポの演奏よりもバド・パウエルのバラードが好きだ。どこかキラキラ光る和音を叩きながら、明るいフレーズがその上を滑って行くような、そんな瞬間がある。夢見心地のいい気持ちになる、そんなバド・パウエルの演奏が好きである。
